High-Performance Program

Announcement: Horse Trials BC is now BCEA

What is High Performance?

High-performance, in the context of this BCEA committee and its goals, is defined as:

  • Rider has completed a minimum of 3 Preliminary HT with MER and has declared they are aiming for minimum FEI CCI2-S or Intermediate horse trials; or
  • Currently competing at a minimum of either Intermediate horse trials or FEI CCI2-S; or
  • Rider has previously competed at minimum FEI CCI2-L or Intermediate horse trials and is bringing along a horse going at least Training level.

There is no age-limit to the high-performance definition, other than the minimum ages required by the rules to compete at each level, as young and adult riders alike can benefit from education opportunities.

Goals:

  1. To promote and support knowledge and excellence of BC-based riders competing at the Preliminary level and above in the sport of eventing.
  2. To identify BC-based high-performance riders and to communicate with them regularly.
  3. To organize activities that further the education of identified riders, with the aim of a minimum of one HTBC-organized activity per year.
  4. At all times the HPC’s actions will be based on the principles of HTBC, the safety and welfare of the horse and rider, inclusivity and equality.
  5. To assist in and help fundraise for our HP riders to get to qualifying events and/ or mandatory training camps, clinics, etc.
